Lost Inside the Sound

Lost Inside the Sound

My third album releases today on 23 platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music. This is collection of 7 songs. 4 you may have heard. 3 are new.

I wrote all songs, lyric and melody, played tracks on a couple. I’m 70 now, AI sings better than I do, and gives me major flexibility with vocal tracks. I use software shamelessly - Ableton, Audacity, Udio, Suno, others. The vibe is all mine.

Here are the seven tracks:

All Here Now - I wrote this song a few weeks ago, in the middle of the night, after watching a couple Waxahatchee videos. Alabama girl, age of my kids, new mom, I like her style. She gets a song. I made a video of All Here Now, released here on Substack and YouTube on July 19.

Aphrodite - Wrote it in Athens, Ga a couple years ago while playing around with a looping app. Pretty sure every dude has an Aphrodite or two slinking around the corners of his world. The loop I made then was weird, but the song refined well. To me, at least. Decide for yourself. Aphrodite is previously unreleased in any form.

Hunger - I wrote this tune back in 2021, after watching an extended interview on YouTube featuring Baba Ram Dass. He was quite eloquent about how we attack symptoms of problems while ignoring the roots. Songworthy. I recorded a guitar demo of Hunger in 2021, replaced it on YouTube with the first Udio version in 2025, and reworked the melody for this album release.

The Fix - A path very similar to Hunger in terms of release. I made the mistake of turning on the network news one evening in 2021. Mistake. Feels like it’s still broken. Here is the updated video version of The Fix from 2024. Reworked the melody for this release. The lyrics are unchanged from the guitar version.

Raised By Wolves - Not naming names, let’s just say this song was inspired by someone I know well. More to the point, by that person’s family. I first picked this one out on an electric guitar, the video was bad and I deleted it - winter of 2023. I made an Ableton/Udio cut and added a video in 2025. Rewrote it slightly and remastered for this release.

Kelly - Written in 2024, unreleased. Kelly is a character in my novel, First Light. This is Jake, her ex and the father of her kids, thinking about the situation while sitting alone on the beach. Find the novel the Bookshelf. Find the song on Spotify. Or your favorite outlet.

Tin Roof - I wrote the bones of this song in a cabin in Montana, 2013 I think. It sat there for years, a forgotten poem. Then, during the Covid debacle, I started digging up old notebooks, and I put Tin Roof to music - played it first on a mandolin. Then I used it a couple years ago to practice making videos. The video was execrable but the tune had evolved into something sweet. This remastered cut is my favorite track on the album.

I have the material ready for a jazz album and a rock album, a couple tracks short of having a complete country album.

Yes. Yes I am all over the board with my music. I am pulling a modern classical piece together, and if you go to the temporary SWG YouTube page you will find Bossa Nova and Ambient lofi tracks.

I call it eclectic. If I need every day to sound the same I will return to the mortgage business :)
